Creating spaces where every child and family feels seen, valued, and celebrated starts with us as educators. This two-part workshop series offers a welcoming space to reflect, learn, and build confidence in supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion in early learning and school-age programs.
Workshop 1: Bias Awareness & Inclusive Language (1 hr; 6:30-7:30 pm)
● Explore the importance of bias awareness in education.
● Introduction to 2SLGBTQIA+ terminology & affirming language.
● Build a shared foundation for inclusive practice.
Workshop 2: From Theory to Practice: Pedagogy & Action (1.5 hrs; 6:30-8:00 pm)
● Apply inclusive concepts to real classroom/program contexts.
● Explore adaptable strategies for affirming children & families.
● Identify practical tools & actions to create belonging.
Outcomes:
● Increased awareness of personal bias.
● Confidence in using inclusive language.
● Practical ideas for inclusive pedagogy.
● Strategies to foster belonging and respond to exclusion.
● Certificate of completion will be awarded from Out on the Shelf after the completion of both workshops.
