A strong onboarding experience can set the foundation for a new employee's success! Join this interactive workshop to explore why effective onboarding is essential in early learning and child care environments and discover the key elements of a welcoming, supportive, and meaningful onboarding process.
Together, we will examine how thoughtful onboarding contributes to staff retention, engagement, professional growth, and a positive organizational culture within the child care sector.
Participants will also play an active role in shaping a practical onboarding guide for supervisors. Through collaborative discussion and brainstorming, you will identify the essential components of an effective onboarding process and share the tools, resources, and supports that would be most valuable when welcoming new team members.

Jessica Karpathios (car-path-eos) (RECE, BASc, Certified Forest School Practitioner) is a pedagogical consultant, professor, and the founder of The Curious Educator Collective. With 15 years of experience in licensed child care across Ontario and international settings, Jessica works at the intersection of Reggio Emilia philosophy, forest school pedagogy, and the lived reality of the sector. Through 1:1 coaching, organizational consulting, workshops, and keynotes, she has supported 15,000 educators across Canada and the USA. Jessica wants to live in a world where ECEs are respected and recognized for the invaluable role they play in society, and she hopes to help elevate that message, because "we could make this place beautiful." Jessica lives in Ontario with her husband and their dog, where they spend their time in nature, connecting to the land.
