Play Schemas
Type: In-Programme Professional Learning
One theory of cognitive development centers on children’s ability to construct knowledge of their world through their patterns of play, or “play schemas”. This team meeting session will introduce learners to the concept of play schemas, providing opportunities to explore and observe schemas in action, and deliver valuable insights into the physiological systems that are engaged when children are exploring these play schemas. The goal of observing these play schemas is not to define children's learning, rather it is to open ourselves up to deeper reflection about what children are intrinsically motivated to teach themselves about the world around them.
