Connecting with Children, Families and Each Other
Type: In-Programme Professional Learning
This session will deepen participants' understanding of the importance of authentic, positive, caring relationships with children, families and our colleagues. It invites participants to consider what it means to maintain an appropriate proportion of time spent between focusing on connecting, compared to direction and correction. This session aims to promote a shift in educator practices and to reframe thinking about everyday interactions, routines and transitions through the lens of connection. The session includes reflective exercises that encourage participants to consider ways to prioritize connection, make the most of everyday routines to focus on connection and deepen relationships, and to create a plan for bringing greater awareness to their own C:D:C ratios. It also includes reflections about communication differences, our values, creating community agreements, and introduces thinking routines to support educators in thinking alongside their colleagues
