Exploring Children's Competency

We often say we see children as competent and capable, but do we stop to think about what “competency” really means?

During this team meeting session we will define competency by:

• unpacking what competency means with young children,
• considering how our interpretation of competency impacts our work with children,
• examining situations when we may anticipate or expect competency, and
• exploring examples of when it may be inappropriate to expect competency in young children.
