Understanding and Supporting Autistic Children in a Child-Care Setting

This workshop provides professionals in early learning and childcare professions with information about Autism, as well as strategies for creating inclusive child-care settings for persons with Autism, to allow them to participate fully in their community. As a result of participating in this workshop, early learning and childcare professionals will be able to:
- list features of Autism
- describe strategies to support Autistic learners
- identify possible strengths of Autistic learners

About the facilitators:

Denise Kneller, Manager of Training Supports, has been working within the Autism Community for 20 years. She joined Kerry’s Place in 2011 as part of the ABA Services and Supports program working with children and youth and their families on short-term goals in the areas of social skill development and behaviour change.
Over the past seven years, Denise has played a key role in community education and training initiatives at Kerry’s Place, contributing to content development, program oversight and facilitation.
Denise is passionate about teaching and empowering community members with a deeper understanding of Autism and is committed fostering inclusivity and support for the Autism Community.

Ghazaleh Mosabebi, Autism Consultant, has been directly and indirectly engaged in providing support to Autistic people and has a great passion to enhance the quality of their lives. Ghazaleh has been involved in various initiatives supporting autistic persons across their lifespan and currently facilitates training nationwide to foster comprehensive understanding and awareness of Autism within diverse audiences.
